River Name: Sangu

1. General Information

1.1 Description

Sangu is a transboundary river of the Eastern Hill Region of Bangladesh recognized by the Joint River Commission (JRC). The river originates in the Arakan Range of Myanmar. It enters Bangladesh through Remakri Union of Thanchi Upazila of Bandarban District. It flows through Thanchi, Ramu, Rowangchhari, Bandarban Sadar Upazila of Bandarban District and Chandanaish, Satkania, Anwara Upazilas of Chittagong District before flowing into the Bay of Bengal at Khankhanabad Union of Banshkhali Upazila of Chittagong District. The river is meandering in nature. The river is subject to tidal influence. The flood danger level of this river at Bapaubor Dohazari Station is 7 meters (PWD) and the flood danger level of Bandarban Station is 15.25 meters (PWD).
