Pungli is an inland river in the north-central region of Bangladesh. It originates from the New Dhaleshwari River in Durgapur Union of Kalihati Upazila of Tangail District and flows into the Nangli River in Kashil Union of Basail Upazila of the same district. In its lower reaches, the river is commonly known as the Lauhajang River in Basail Upazila. It is a meandering river. During the monsoon season, the flow of water in the river increases and at this time the water overflows both banks and flows through the floodplain. Boats ply on the river during the monsoon season.
