The Gorai is an inland river in the southwestern region of Bangladesh. The river originates from the Ganges River in Hatash Haripur Union in Kushtia Sadar Upazila of Kushtia District and flows into the Madhumati River in Nakol Union in Sreepur Upazila of Magura District. The Gorai River is one of the distributaries of the Ganges. This river is one of the sources of fresh water in the southwestern part of the country. The river has a continuous flow of water throughout the year. This river is a second-class navigation route designated by the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA). This river experiences tidal effect. When the river flow increases during the monsoon season, the water overflows its banks.
