Arial Khan is an inland river in the south-central region of Bangladesh. The river originates from the Padma River in Char Nasirpur Union of Sadarpur Upazila of Faridpur District, flows through Madaripur District and outfalls into the Kalabadar River in Shayestabad Union of Sadar Upazila of Barisal District. Arial Khan is a major distributary of the Padma. About two centuries ago, the Padma River used to flow along the current course of the Arial Khan and flow into the Bay of Bengal. Later, the combined flow of the Jamuna and Ganges was directed towards the flow of the then Kirtinasha River and joined the Meghna Estuary near Chandpur. The river has a year-round flow of water. Navigation continues throughout the year. There is tidal influence in this river. This river is a second-class navigation route designated by the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA).
